Cities will light up for holidays

Communities throughout Snohomish County will host tree-lighting ceremonies and other events to welcome the Christmas season.

Friday

 

Snohomish: caroling and entertainment downtown, 1:40 p.m.; Santa's arrival at First Street and Avenue A, 2 p.m.; tree lighting at First Street and Avenue B, 5 p.m. Information: 360-568-2526.

Saturday

Edmonds: tree lighting, 5 p.m.; Santa's arrival via firetruck follows; both events at Centennial Plaza, Fifth Avenue North and Bell Street. Information: 425-776-6711.

Granite Falls:tree lighting, 6 p.m.; entertainment and Santa's arrival follow; all festivities at Jim Holm Park, next to City Hall, 206 S. Granite Ave. Information: 425-870-0112.

Monroe: tree lighting and photos with Santa, 5 p.m., Main and Lewis streets. Information: 360-794-5488.

Starting Saturday

Holiday lights: neighborhood display, candy-cane shack and food drive, 5-10 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays and 5-11 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays, Timberline Park neighborhood, 3700 and 3800 blocks of 228th Place Southwest, Brier. Santa will visit Dec. 11, 17-19 and 24. Information: www.brierlights.org .

Tuesday

Mill Creek: entertainment, 6:45 p.m.; tree lighting and Santa's arrival, about 7:15 p.m.; all festivities at City Hall, 15728 Main St. Information: 425-745-1891.

Dec. 2

Lynnwood: entertainment and Santa's arrival, 6 p.m., City Hall, 19100 44th Ave. W. Information: 425-771-4030.

Starting Dec. 2

Stanwood area: Almost 1 million Christmas lights and decorations will line the Warm Beach Christian Camps, 20800 Marine Drive. There will also be activities for kids. Hours: 5-10 p.m. Dec. 2-5, 9-12, 16-23 and 26-30. Entry fee: $7- $10. Information: 800-228-6724.

Dec. 3

Mountlake Terrace: entertainment, 6 p.m.; water-tower lighting, 7 p.m.; Santa's arrival follows; all festivities at Evergreen Playfield No. 1, 56th Avenue West and 222nd Street Southwest. Information: 425-776-9173.

Dec. 4

Arlington: Santa's arrival during Grand Parade downtown, noon; tree lighting and photos with Santa follow at Legion Memorial Park, 114 N. Olympic Ave., Information: 360-435-3708.

Bothell: Santa's arrival by train, 7 p.m.; tree lighting follows; both events at Country Village, 23732 Bothell-Everett Highway. Information: 425-483-2250.

Brier: tree lighting, 6:30 p.m.; Santa's arrival by firetruck and choral singing follow; all events at Brier Park, 2903 228th St. S.W. Information: 425-775-5440.

Marysville: parade, 6:30 p.m.; water-tower lighting with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and family concert follow; all festivities at Comeford Park, Fifth Street and State Avenue. Information: 360-651-5085.

Mukilteo: start of festivities, 6 p.m.; tree lighting and Mukilteo Yacht Club Boat Parade, 7 p.m. Guests must pick up tickets in exchange for canned-food donations before the event. Rosehill Community Center, Fifth Street and Lincoln Avenue. Information: 425-347-1456.

Sultan: Santa's arrival, 9 a.m.; musical performances, 4 p.m., Sultan High School Commons, 13715 310th Ave. S.E. Information: 360-793-9860.

Dec. 11

Santa breakfast and "Nutcracker": short performance by the Olympic Ballet Theatre, visit with Santa, live music and food, 10 a.m., Embassy Suites, 20610 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood. Cost: $20-$24. Tickets: 425-774-7570 or 206-292-ARTS.

Dec. 16-19

Everett: Holiday Lights Tour through neighborhoods with seasonal decorations. Tickets are $5 and must be purchased in advance. A bus leaves from Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave., at 7 p.m. Information: 425-257-7777.
